The Brown Cattle Company is a house that was original to Oakville back in the 1800's. It's construction is what was known as a "one-board" house, meaning only one board provided the exterior and interior walls of this little house.
It was moved to the Oakville Square, and as the house was prepared for renovation, we found that the interior walls had been plastered over with magazine pages and newspapers as a means of insulation and keeping the wind and weather from blowing through the spaces between the boards.
