One of the oldest towns in Texas ~ Oakville, established in 1856 and the Oakville Jail built in 1886, are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
The Oakville Jail is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.
Abandoned for all practicable purposes and left in decline for many years, the Town Square and Jail were purchased in 2004. The building was restored and opened in 2009 for guest lodging.
The Jailhouse features all the comforts of home - downstairs is the dining room, living room, kitchen and a full bath. Upstairs houses three bedrooms (2 King, 2 Single), a full bath, a sitting room and a trophy landing that leads out to a deck that overlooks the courtyard and hanging tree.
